11+ Preparation That Goes Beyond Practice Papers

Practice papers have their place. But completing paper after paper isn't the same as understanding why an answer is right - and it isn't what gets a child through an unfamiliar question on exam day. At Merton Tuition Centre, 11+ preparation means building real understanding in Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, then developing the technique to apply that understanding under timed, exam-style conditions. Every child learns differently. In small groups, our tutors can see where a child is confident, where they're guessing, and where a concept simply hasn't clicked yet - and adjust accordingly.

1. Build Strong Foundations
We start by identifying any gaps in core knowledge. Strengthening these foundations early means your child is ready to tackle the more demanding questions that come later, rather than papering over cracks under time pressure.

2. Develop Exam Technique
Exam-style questions, timed practice and mock examinations help your child manage their time, approach unfamiliar questions calmly, and get comfortable performing under pressure — long before the real exam.

3. Personalised Support
Small groups mean our tutors get to know each child's strengths and the areas where they need more support, providing focused help throughout their preparation rather than a one-size-fits-all course.

Three Foundations of 11+ Success

An Established, Family-Run Tuition Centre

Merton Tuition Centre was founded by a father-and-daughter team with backgrounds in Chemistry and Genetics. For over 20 years, we have made difficult concepts manageable through patient, clear teaching.

Small groups allow tutors to notice gaps early, adapt lessons and give every child focused support.

Parents receive clear updates on progress, strengths and next steps.

We teach from centres in Morden and Cheam, supporting students from Year 3 through to GCSE.
